Fairleigh Dickinson outdoor track and field standout Jared Hanko was named the Northeast Conference Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, March 26.

Hanko’s season-opening half-mile performance was one of the best in NCAA Division I. The veteran mid-distance runner took third in the 800m run at last weekend’s Wake Forest Open and posted the nation’s 12th-fastest time 
in the process. The transfer from Seton Hall crossed the line in 1:50.68 and catapulted himself atop the NEC leaderboard as a result. His season-opening time is less than one second shy of the NEC Outdoor Championship meet record that Mount’s Gigi Gibilisco set in 2012.
