For the third time this season, Liat Vizenfeld was named the Northeast Conference Bowler of the Week in as many weeks, the league announced Thursday, Nov. 21
Vizenfeld continued the torrid start to her season at the UMES Hawk Invitational on Nov. 15-17. Posting the best overall frame average (20.97) of any NEC bowler in attendance, Vizenfeld led the Knights to a second-place finish at the 17-team event, which featured a number of national powerhouse programs, including 2013 NCAA runner-up Vanderbilt.
Vizenfeld was at her best during the baker play portion of the three-day tournament. Averaging 21.7 pins per baker frame, she helped FDU post a 4-1 record during Friday's quad-baker matches and later lifted the team into second place during Sunday's championship bracket baker play. Vizenfeld threw a team-high 94 strikes in 166 chances (.566) and cashed in on nearly 90 percent of her non-split spare attempts over the course of the weekend. She left only 13 opens while bowling a three-day total of 124 frames. Her 198.8 traditional average was her lowest of the young season, but her efforts still helped the Knights post wins over Vandy, Delaware State and Norfolk State. Vizenfeld turned in a 223-pin performance during a convincing 1043-841 win over Vanderbilt.
