TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team announced the addition of Ryu Kozuki on Friday afternoon. Kozuki joins incoming freshman Mehdi Dhouib, who signed on May 10. Both Kozuki and Dhouib will compete for the Knights in the fall of 2018.
"I am very happy and excited to have Ryu be on our team. He has a solid all court game and is very athletic," said head coach Jeff Brandes. "His passion for the game and strong desire to improve will be valuable assets as we continue to grow our program."
Kozuki, who comes originally from Osaka, Japan, trained at the Saddlebrook Tennis Academy in Saddlebrook, Florida, where he also attended Saddlebrook Prep School. Kozuki's highest ITF ranking was 1600.
Kozuki was a main draw participant and advanced to the round of 32 in singles at the Grade 5 Peru Junior Open, and he was a singles semifinalist at the 2018 USTA Cheval Winter Classic Level 7. Other accomplishments include a semifinalist in doubles at the VIII Copa Mangu and the SVGTA ITF.
Assistant coach Jacob Mishkin added, "Ryu's passion for tennis and high morale are evident through the conversations Coach Jeff and I had with him. We are encouraged that he will embrace the challenges that come with being a student-athlete next season and are excited to see him develop."
