Men's Tennis Adds Incoming Freshman Dhouib

TEANECK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson men's tennis team announced the signing of Mehdi Dhouib on Thursday afternoon. Dhouib will compete for the Knights in 2018-19.

"Mehdi is a very talented, hardworking player with terrific potential," said head coach Jeff Brandes. "I am enthusiastic about his eagerness to improve as well as his approach to the game. I believe he will fit in perfectly with our current roster and will have an immediate impact on our program."

While Dhouib trained at Cdo Puerto de la Cruz in Spain for the majority of his youth, Dhouib currently trains at Tennis Innovators Academy in White Plains, New York and has done so for the past year while attending Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle.

While residing in New York, Dhouib has produced great results in 2017 with five championship finishes at the L1 level, one runner up finish, and one third place finish at the national level while establishing himself as a top-20 player in the USTA Eastern Rankings.

"Mehdi is a responsible young man who wants to improve," said assistant coach Jacob Mishkin. "His on-campus visit went very well and was encouraged by the conversation we had. He will be a great addition to our team in the fall and will blend in well with our young, enthusiastic group."

Upon signing with FDU, Dhouib is the first to join the Knights 2018 class.
