Hannon Collects NEC Women's Bowling Scholar Athlete

SOMERSET, N.J. -- Senior Melanie Hannon has been named the 2017 Northeast Conference women's bowling scholar athlete. The senior adds the award to a First Team All-NEC selection, NEC Tournament MVP, NEC All-Tournament Team and NTCA Third Team All-American honors this season. 

Hannon owns a 3.52 GPA while majoring in Nursing at Fairleigh Dickinson. The senior has helped the Knights return to the NCAA Championships this year, which are being contested this weekend in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Hannon was a four-time NEC Bowler of Co-Bowler of the Week this season and helped the Knights win the Monmouth Hawk Invitational down in Egg Harbor, New Jersey. Statistically, Hannon averaged 201.7 in team games and an overall frame average of 20.35.

The New York native is the second Knight in three season to win the award. Liat Vizenfeld took home the honor back in 2015, which also the last time Fairleigh Dickinson made the NCAA Championships.
