Women’s Tennis Announces Signing of Smriti Singh

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- The Fairleigh Dickinson women's tennis program announced Smriti Singh has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University and play for the Knights beginning in 2018-19.

Singh, who hails from Gurgaon, India and is a senior at Pathways World School (Gurgaon), signed her NLI on Saturday.

"We are excited to have Smriti join our Fairleigh Dickinson tennis family," said Assistant Coach Jacob Mishkin. "Smriti is a motivated young lady who will be a strong representative of FDU. She possesses good on court habits and her mature mindset will lead to progression for her and her teammates. We look forward to watching her grow the next four years as a Knight."

This calendar year has been a strong one for Singh on the court. She has achieved a U18 National Ranking of 32, earned two quarterfinalist appearances, appeared in three semifinals, garnered a runner-up finish, and was crowned champion at the National Ranking Tournament Championship Series in the under 18 division.

"Smriti is a talented, hardworking player with tremendous potential," said Head Coach Jeff Brandes. I am excited about her enthusiasm to get better as well as her cerebral approach to the game. I believe she will fit into our team perfectly and will have an immediate impact on our program."

Upon signing with FDU, Singh is the first addition to the fall 2018 class.

While the fall season has come to a close, the Knights are set to open their spring season on February 2 as they will travel to Newark, New Jersey to compete against the Highlanders of NJIT.
