Men's Soccer Announces Incoming Class



TEANECK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson head men's soccer coach Seth Roland has announced the addition of 17 student-athletes to the roster for Fall 2016.  The group consists of 10 high school students, four transfers and three students that are already enrolled at FDU.
 
The group also consists of five international student-athletes and seven New Jersey natives.  The remaining six student-athletes represent three states (New York, Maryland, Texas) with four hailing from Texas.
 
Below is a complete list of the new Knights with Coach Roland's comments and a brief summary of their pre-FDU accolades.

The FDU men's soccer team will open its 2016 schedule with a home game against NJIT on August 26.  That game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. at University Stadium.

David Bokumabi* - Oberthal, Germany - 6' 1" - Midfielder/Defender29778

• Captain for Saarbrucken (U16-U19) and SV Elversberg
• Was named SV Elversberg MVP and won 5 League Championships
 
Coach Roland on Bokumabi: "David is a talented player with strong leadership potential. He comes to our program from an outstanding European youth program, and he has been a stalwart in their midfield and backline for the past few years. He makes those around him better and we look forward to his contributions to our team this fall."

Coach Roland on Capela: "Tiago is the newest addition in a great tradition of FDU goalkeepers from the state of NJ. Tiago is very athletic and is ready to come in and join the talented goalkeeper group we have at FDU. I have no doubt that, with his work ethic, he will push our other keepers for playing time before too long."

Coach Roland on Daymon: "Ryan is an explosive, exciting player in the attack. He is lightning quick and enjoys running at players on the flank. He has been an integral part of the success his Empire United club team has achieved over the past few years. His qualities should make our attack more dynamic."

Coach Roland on Ferreira: "Sebastian is a goalkeeper who comes from one of the strong New Jersey high school programs. He possesses good ability on crosses and high balls, and he has good distribution qualities to start attacks. We expect him to push hard to get on the field for us in goal."

Coach Roland on Fuentes: "Kenny is an excellent 1-v-1 soccer player. He has the drive and the ability to take on his defender, and has a knack for scoring goals. He is also equally adept when it comes to assisting his teammates -- often picking out the correct pass to make at the right time."

Coach Roland on Kilic: "I saw Stjepan at the Disney Tournament in December playing for his Dallas Texans team. He is a smart and technical defender who has a wide range of passing. Stjepan can potentially help us as either a center back or left back where he has played previously with both his club and High School teams. Stjepan's versatility is an asset at the Division I level."

Coach Roland on Lasarte: "Daniel is a dynamic attacking midfield player. He has a very good first touch and is capable of beating his opponent in one-on-one situations. Daniel creates time and space for himself in the middle of midfield and then ghosts into the box as a dangerous attacking threat. He possesses the speed and quickness to give opponents trouble."

He is a winner and competitor and that is what we expect to see from him this Fall."

He was playing for the Ironbound Under-17 team at the time and he really stood out...there was a calmness to him and he made great decisions with the ball. We see Wojciech as primarily a central defender who may also be able to play deep in the midfield."
