HACKENSACK, N.J. -- College baseball's early signing period ended last week and the Fairleigh Dickinson baseball team signed on some of the nation's top talent.
Perfect Game USA, one of the top-rated baseball outlets in the country, ranked the Knights' incoming class 72
nd in the nation.
Much of that success can be attributed to Knights assistant coach
Justin McKay, who is in his fifth season serving as the team's recruiting coordinator.
On Wednesday, McKay was picked by his peers as the Northeast Conference's top recruiter according to
D1Baseball.com.
As part of its recruiting questionnaire this fall,
D1Baseball asked Division I coaches to rank the five best recruiters in college baseball. They received 124 ballots back from Division I schools, and each school could only cast one ballot. First-place votes were worth five points, second-place votes were worth four, and so on.
In addition to his recruiting success, McKay has also had a positive effect on the team as the Knights' offense. His influence on the 2016 offense led to increases in team batting average, runs scored, hits, home runs, doubles, RBI's, total bases, slugging, base on balls and stolen bases. The Knights hit 45 home runs, collected 502 hits and ranked seventh in the nation in stolen bases per game.
