WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson men's track and field team shined at the Moonlight at the MAC event on Wednesday night.
 
In the 5,000m, freshman Darrel Gooding (Somerset, N.J./Franklin Township) posted the best time of the day, crossing the finish line in first place with a 14:50.19 finish. His time converts to a Northeast Conference-best 14:40.76 and bests the IC4A qualifying standard of 14:45.40 for the event. The converted time is a personal record for Gooding. With the time, Gooding earned a spot at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for June 19-22 in Des Moines, Iowa. 
 
Freshman Jasper Savoy (Lusby, Md./Gwynn Park) won the 60m with a time of 6.87. In his best effort in an automatic-timed event this season, Savoy broke the 6.90-mark for the third time. He qualified for the finals with the best time in the field of 6.93 seconds in the prelims.
 
Fellow freshman Sidney Salvodon (Ramapo, NY/Ramapo) took third place in the prelims of the 60m with a personal-record time of 7.06 seconds. He followed up in third in the finals with a 7.08 finish.
 
Also setting a personal record on the day was sophomore jumper Colin Cunningham (Kingston, Jamaica/Academies at Englewood). In the long jump, Cunningham's mark of 6.60m (21'8”) helped him place fourth on the day and surpass his previous career best of 6.06m (19'10.75” ) set at the 2011 Fordham Season Opener.
 
Senior Michael Telesford (Queens, NY/ENY Transit Tech) continued to improve, reaching the second-best distance of his career in the shot put with a toss of 14.21m (46'7.5”).
 
Next up for FDU is the IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass. March 1-3.
