Day One Recap
LANDOVER, Md. – Fueled by three third-place finishes on Sunday, the Fairleigh Dickinson men's track and field team secured ninth place at the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships at the Prince George Sports and Learning Complex.
The Knights netted a two-day total of 27 points, 24 of which were earned on Sunday. Monmouth successfully defended its title with 164.5 points to take first place, while LIU Brooklyn was second with 128 points.
Freshman
Jasper Savoy (Lusby, Md./Gwynn Park) ran the third-best time of the afternoon in the 200m, completing the single-circuit event in 22.06. The performance earned the Knights six points.
Savoy picked up three more points for the Burgundy and Blue with a sixth-place finish in the 60m finals with a time of 6.96.
Following his sixth place performance in the 3,000m on Saturday, freshman
Darrel Gooding (Somerset, N.J./Franklin Township) took home third-place honors in the 5,000m by clocking in at 15:00.97, which added six points to FDU's total.
Fellow freshman
Jenya Dyagilev (Almaty, Kazakhstan/Fort Lee, N.J.), who put together the top time in the 500m prelims a day ago, nearly duplicated his performance on Sunday with a 1:05.9 showing to place third and earn six team points.
The 4x400m relay comprised of Dyagilev,
Sidney Salvodon (Ramapo, NY/Ramapo),
Zaki Williams (East Orange, NJ/Hanover Park Regional) and
Mohamed Cisse (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo) compiled a time of 3:28.30. The all-freshmen team's time was the sixth best overall, which was good for three more points.
Cisse was one slot away from scoring again as he was the ninth runner to cross the finish line in the finals of the 400m in 51.50.
Senior
Michael Telesford (Queens, NY/ENY Transit Tech) placed ninth in the weight throw by reaching a distance of 15.35m (50'4.5”), his second-best mark of the season.
