WEST POINT, N.Y. – Senior Egzona Morina (Prishtina, Kosovo/American School of Kosovo) navigated her way through a challenging field capped by two wins on Sunday at the final day of the Army Invitational to capture the Second Flight singles championship.
 
Morina began the day with a hard-fought 6-7(7-4), 6-4, 10-6 victory in the semifinals against Fordham's Ali Sarah to earn her spot in the finals. In the final match of the day for the flight, Morina was able to cruise past another Fordham player, Angie Dabu, by a score of 6-2, 6-3 for the title.
 
Earlier in the tournament, Morina defeated Becky Shtilkind of Stony Brook in the round of 16 before taking down UMass' Julia Comas in the quarterfinals.
 
Junior Manuela Leme (Varginha, Brazil/E.E. Antania Alves Cruz) was also able to pick up a win on the day by beating Gianna Francis of UMass, 9-8(7-3) in a consolation match.
 
In doubles, senior Anna Rapoport (Moscow, Russia/#1239 ) and sophomore Dina Guzairova (Sochi, Russia/Chelyabinsk #8 ) teamed up and got by Army's Maya Parker and Alyssa Gleason, 8-1, in the consolation semifinals. Moving on to the finals of the consolation round, the Rapoport/Guzairova combo could not get by Stony Brook's Becky Shtilkind and Nini Lagvilava, 8-2.
 
Up next, FDU will play Monmouth in a dual match on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 3:30 p.m. at the FDU Tennis Center in Teaneck, N.J.
