The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's bowling team will host the 2011 NJ Jamboree Friday, Nov 4-Sunday, Nov. 6 at Parkway Lanes in Elmwood Park, NJ. The Bowl for the Cure event includes 19 of the top NCAA bowling programs in the country.
Competition will begin at noon on Friday with five quad-Baker games. On Saturday, traditional team play will begin. Sunday's playoff round will be determined based on total pinfall after Friday and Saturday.
Teams including Delaware State, Bethune-Cookman, Hampton, Howard, Morgan State, Sam Houston State, Salem International, Stephen F. Austin, University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Vanderbilt will be in attendance this weekend.
Also competing this weekend at the Jamboree are Northeast Conference schools Adelphi, Kutztown, Long Island, Monmouth, Saint Francis PA, St. Francis NY and Sacred Heart.
The Knights will look to junior Danielle McEwan (Stony Point, NY/Stony Point) to continue her hot streak. McEwan was named to the All-Tournament Team at last weekend's Bethune-Cookman Wildcat Invitational and was awarded the NEC Player of the Week accolade this week. Michelle Hunzaker (Cary, NC/Green Hope High School) was also named to the All-Tournament team at BC-U.
Freshman Erica Schneider (Levittown, NY/Division Avenue High School) was named this week's NEC Rookie of the week after starting her collegiate career on the right foot. The Knights went 13-1 last weekend to take home the Wildcat Invitational championship.
