An inaugural member of Fairleigh Dickinson University's Division I Athletics Hall of Fame, Evelyn Terhune '54 served as Head Fencing Coach from 1958 through 1974. Terhune coached the Knights to all three of the school's National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association Team Championships (1960, 1963, 1969) while also leading two of FDU's four NIWFA Individual Foil Champions: Madeline Miyamoto (1960 and 1963) and Patricia Preziosi (1967). Her passion and her gift for the sport led Terhune to the Olympics in Rome in 1960, where she became the first FDU graduate to compete in the Olympic Games.
