Jonathan Buchman enters his fourth season at Fairleigh Dickinson coaching the men's and women's tennis programs, and the 2014-15 season will be his third as head coach of the Knights.
In 2014, Buchman coached the Knights to their third consecutive Northeast Conference championship and third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. He was named NEC Coach of the Year for women’s tennis for the second consecutive year, while each of his players received All-NEC honors and one Rookie of the Year accolade.
The men’s team was NEC runners-up in 2014 having been conference champions in both 2012 and 2013 and advancing to back-to-back NCAA Tournaments. Five of Buchman’s players received All-NEC honors as well, and Arvis Berzins collected his third-straight NEC Player of the Year Award and was recognized as a Capital One Academic All-District performer.
Since joining FDU, Buchman has a combined overall record of 69-47 and has amassed a NEC record of 33-4 for a .891 winning percentage.
Previously, Buchman served as United States Tennis Association’s Eastern Zone Coach at Nationals, a position he was appointed to by the USTA Competition and Player Development Committee in 2011. He has been director of high performance and tournament training programs at the Ridgefield Tennis Club and Four Seasons Racquet Club in Connecticut, Ivan Lendl’s Grand Slam Tennis Club and New England Tennis Camp in New York and Assistant Director of the Adidas Tennis Camp in New Jersey.
Buchman is a certified teaching professional by both the United States Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry.
He resides in Westchester County, N.Y., with his wife Lisa, and their two children, Max and Amanda.
